Tinys Corona Queen was killed after being struck by lightning in 2015. She
2009 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap, and Tejas Energy B, winner of the 2013 Sam Houston Derby Challenge. Her stakes placed runners are Miss Energy P, who was second in the 2018 Mystic Northlands Futurity, and West Texas Energy, who was second in the 2009 Texas Juvenile Challenge-G3.
Terrific Energy has gone on to form her own powerful branch of the Tinys Effort family. She is the dam of 18 foals, 15 starters and 14 ROM with five stakes winners. Her foals have earned over $1.4 million. Her stakes winners are Thermonuclear Energy, winner of the 2015 Los Alamitos Two Million Juvenile, 2017 Las Damas Handicap, 2018 Ivan Ashment Handicap and 2019 Charger Bar Handicap-G1; Terrific Synergy, winner
of the 2012 Governor’s Cup-G2; Dynasty Energy, winner of the 2015 California Breeder’s Freshman Stakes; Terrific First Down, winner of the 2019 La Primera Del Ano Derby-G3; and Design By Dynasty, winner of the 2018 Terrific Energy Handicap.
Tinys Effort is by Special Effort - the one and only Ruidoso Triple Crown winner of the Kansas Futurity, Rainbow Futurity and All American Futurity in 1981. He also won the Kansas Derby in 1982 and finished third in the 1982 All American Derby-G1 for his only defeat in 14 starts. He earned $1,219,950.
Special Effort is a leading sire with earnings of over $18.8 million. He sired 1,048 ROM runners, 75 stakes winners and 97 stakes placed foals. His leading money winners include the World Champion Special Leader and such divisional Champions as Easygo Effort, Special Project, Bully Bullion, Sweet N Special, Special Phoebe and Concorde Special.
Special Effort was another good broodmare sire in the pedigree of Tinys Corona Queen. He is the broodmare sire of horses that earned over $35 million, with 1,612 ROM, 116 stakes winners and 163 stakes placed foals. His leading money earners include the divisional Champions Eyesa Special, Eye Opening Episode, Deelish, Tiny First Effort, Mars Blackman and Especially Rare.
Special Effort served as a key outcross during his breeding career, as he carried
no Top Deck or Three Bars breeding. His pedigree also shows us a breeding pattern that utilizes hybrid vigor as an integral part of the pedigree of Tinys Corona Queen. Special Effort is by the Thoroughbred Raise Your Glass by Raise A Native by Native Dancer by Polynesian. Raise Your Glass is out of Champagne Woman by Barbizon by Polynesian. This gives Raise Your Glass a breeding pattern of 3 X 3 to Polynesian. It appears that Polynesian was a sprinter that could carry his speed over a distance, as he
won the 1945 Preakness Stakes. But, he was also the U.S. Champion Sprinter in 1947.
Go Effortlessly, the dam of Special Effort, is by Double Devil by Double Bid, and Double Devil is out of Bella St Mary by Spotted Bull TB. The dam of Go Effortlessly is Hijo Beauty, a Thoroughbred mare by Spotted Bull. This gives Go Effortlessly a breeding pattern of 3 X 2 to Spotted Bull. Special Effort is an example of crossing two individuals that are inbred in their pedigree, but unrelated
to each other, and that brings a high level of hybrid vigor into the mix of the pedigree.
Tinys Rose Bud, the dam of Tinys Effort, was a stakes placed runner with a second in the 1982 Graham Farms Futurity and she was also a finalist in the 1982 All American Futurity. Her record shows a New Track Record at Val Verde Downs going 400
yards in :19.840 in 1984. She had 25 starts, winning 13 of them. She earned $238,430.
Tinys Rose Bud is the dam of 16 foals,
15 starters and 13 ROM with one stakes winner and two stakes placed runners. Her foals earned $475,787. Her stakes winner was Strawflyin Buds, winner of the 1998 Southern California Derby-G1 and 1997 California Sires’ Cup Futurity-RG1. Strawflyin Buds is the sire of horses that have earned over $4.5 million, with 393 starters, 279 ROM and 23 stakes winners. His leading money winners are Streakin Dunn, who was second in the 2012 Heritage Place Futurity-G1; and BCR Flyin Bayou, winner of the 2008 Animas Handicap. Strawflyin Buds is the broodmare sire of foals that have earned over $6.5 million, including leading money earner is 2011 Golden State Million Futurity-G1 winner Igotyourtac.
The sire and dam of Tinys Rose Bud is Tiny’s Gay and Runnin Rose, a race mare that had 54 starts and 11 wins. She earned $36,426. Runnin Rose produced six foals, five starters and three ROM with two stakes placed runners. Her runners earned $318,360. After Tinys Rose Bud, her second stakes placed foal was San Rosa Leah with thirds in the 1984 Go Together Handicap Second Division and 1983 Queen City Derby. San Rosa Leah is the dam of Mr Speculate, winner of the 1988 All American Sale Futurity- RG3, and A Little Ingenuity, winner of the 1996 Sunland Park Fall Derby-G3.
Runnin Rose is by No Trader by Trade Bar by Tonto Bars Gill. Trade Bar is out of Question Ann by Question Mark by Plaudit. Runnin Rose is out of Miss Super Hope by Super Chief by Spot Cash. This gives Spot Cash
