oo Flash For You showed the same form
that helped him win the 2014 All American Derby-G1, as the veteran five-year-old gelding made a victorious run in the $85,000 Mesilla Valley Handicap-RG2 at Sunland Park on March 18.
Too Flash For You registered his eighth career win and fifth in stakes company for owners Jose Espinosa and Jim & Michele Laird. Making his 2016 debut, Too Flash For You broke on top from the 2-post and led at every subsequent call, opening up
a 1/2-length lead by the time he entered the stretch and holding on to reach the wire first by a neck.
Jason Giles trains Too Flash For You, who had Adrian Ramos aboard while covering the 350 yards in :17.298 for a 91 speed index. The million-dollar gelding snared a $51,000 prize, increasing his total earnings to $1,059,870.
Too Flash For You paid off handsomely, going off at 10-1 odds. He is out of the 1994 mare Rare Pie, who is owned by Sarah Donaldson and who also bred Too Flash For You. Rare Pie has 16 offspring, 12 of whom have made starts including two New Track Record setters. Too Flash For You is her top money earner.
Get Down Bambi (Get Down Perry-Chilly Force) secured runner-up honors for owner/trainer Jaime Aldavaz, Sr. Esgar Ramirez did the riding. BL Corona (Southern Corona-BL Duran), who is owned by Bertha Irigoyen, finished a close third. Irving Fournier is the trainer and Edgar Martinez was in the irons.
DM Ada Kat (Gonna Ro Sham Bo-Kat Kora), Whatever Bill (Southern Corona-Edge Of Elegance), Blazin Version (Winners Version-Shes So Blazin), Heza Wild Dragon (Genuine Strawfly-Hidden Dragon), Bankie Bay (Brookstone Bay-Jess Brenda), Dungarees Version (Winners Version-Forty One Special) & Mad About The Moon (First Moonflash- Streaking Power) rounded out the finishing order.
