                                Mighty Deck Three Stakes
WIN RABBITS FLY
by Danny Camp
In the blink of an eye. That was how long it took Win Rabbits Fly to get to the wire in the $70,000 Mighty Deck Three Stakes, a 250-yard dash at Remington
Park on March 13. The track was fast with a 10 mph tail wind when Win Rabbits Fly flew away from the 3-post, receiving the 2nd call from the gates and every subsequent call. The 7-year-old gelding drifted in a bit, and halfway down the track, jockey Daniel Torres had to tug hard on his right rein. When they crossed the wire, they were 1/2-length in front and had set a New Track Record with a time of :12.839 for a 107 speed index. The $39,000 winner’s share takes Win Rabbits Fly’s earnings to $264,568 and his record to 15 wins from 34 starts. He also won the Mr Jet Moore Stakes-RG3, Rocky Heinzig Memorial, and Fair Meadows Maturity. The speedster also set 2 additional New Track Records at 110-yards at Prairie Meadows and was the 2014 Oklahoma Hi-Point Aged Stallion.
Win Rabbits Fly is owned/trained Miguel Banuelos and was bred by Jackie L. Morgan in Oklahoma. The gelding is the first stakes winner & top earner out of multiple winner Break The Market, who has 100% ROM earners from her 3 starters.
Sam Crow (Valiant Hero-Bourbonstreetchick) didn’t get away with the best in 8th under Ricky Ramirez, but a gallant effort put them in 2nd for owner Terry Baber & trainer Trey Wood. Third place went to This Candys Awesome (Pyc Paint Your Wagon-Jess Send Candy), who made a steady run under Ivan Carnero for owner PV Quarter Horse Farms LLC & trainer Clinton Crawford. Followed by Sudden Separation (Inseperable- Okie Dokey Annie), Bye Byefreighttrain (Freighttrain B-Bye Bye Bygones), The Charm Of Corona (Corona Cartel-Charm Dance), Llano Cartel (Teller Cartel- Eyesa Lil Cuervo), This Wagons Okay (Pyc Paint Your Wagon-This Candys Okay), Bp Cartels Policy (Cartel Success-Marys Southernpolicy) & Load Your Guns (Corona Cartel-Dashing Little Reba).
SLM Big Daddy Stakes
DASHIN FOR A PRIZE
by Tracy Gantz
Eliminating blinkers on Dashin For A Prize was one of the keys to an excellent performance in the SLM Big Daddy Stakes at Remington Park on
March 19. It was also the first time the 5-year-old gelding had attempted 550 yards.
Favored Dashin For A Prize broke in second
and quickly took the lead. He never relinquished
it, winning by 1/2-length in :26.573 with a 110 speed index. The $29,730 first place prize boosts his lifetime earnings to $274,180.
“He was doing what I wanted and he just stayed in front,” said jockey Ricky Ramirez. “I was riding him pretty hard to keep him busy, but he led the whole way from the word go.”
Javier Contreras trains Dashin For A Prize for owner Oscar Moreno. The gelding was coming off of three consecutive thirds, including in the 2015 Championship at Sunland Park-G1. He also won the 2014 Dash For Cash Derby.-G3.
Phillip Deville bred Dashin For A Prize in Louisiana from Fast Prize Angie. The mare has produced two winners from three starters.
Specials Jess (Spit Curl Jess-Special Anywhere) fin- ished second with Cesar Gomez aboard. Kasey Willis trains the 4-year-old gelding for owner Alexia Mehrle. Specials Jess placed in the 2015 Altoona Derby and Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Derby.
Terry McLean’s Admiral Zoomwalt (Shazoom- Tellin It All) finished third for jockey James Flores and trainer Gerry McLean. The 4-year-old gelding won last year’s OQHRA Fall Classic.
Completing the field were Rocketair (Jumpn- Rivanne), Mixed Fantasy (Okey Dokey Fantasy-Mixin Sixin), Painted Josy (PYC Paint Your Wagon-She’s Josy TB), First Prize Dive (Ivory James-First Prize Pearl), Im The Key (Shazoom-Royal Classic Chick), Also A Feature (Feature Mr Jess-Also A High), & CJS Rocksolid (Rock Solid Jess-Sultry Miss).
Oklahoma Juvenile
SENATOR TELLER
by John Moorehouse
Senator Teller failed to qualify for the Grade 3 Oklahoma Futurity during the March 11 trials, but winning a $50,000 stakes was quite the consola- tion prize.
The rookie colt did just that on March 26 at Remington Park, taking first place by 3/4-length in the Oklahoma Juvenile, held for starters that did not make the futurity field.
Alvaro Ibarra owns Senator Teller, who was mak- ing his second lifetime out. The brown colt scored his first victory in this contest. Senator Teller’s maiden out was a runner-up effort by just a head in the Oklahoma Futurity trials.
Javier Contreras trains Senator Teller, who broke well from the 2-post, getting the second call from the gates. The colt quickly opened up a 1/2-length lead and was in the lead at the first call, holding a 1/2-length advantage as they entered the stretch.
No other competitor had an answer for the colt, who widened the gap through the final yards. Senator Teller finished the race 3/4-lengths on top for his first stakes victory in his second career out.
Armando Ramirez was aboard as Senator Teller finished the 300-yard course in :15.309, posting a 92 speed index and capturing a $20,000 payday that boosted his lifetime earnings to $21,946.
Wootan Racing bred both Senator Teller and his dam, Special Teller, a lightly raced 2007 black mare owned by Dave Hermanson. Special Teller has four offspring, two of whom have made starts to date. Senator Teller became the first winner in the brood.
Owned by Double A Ranch, Paint My Pilot (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Ms Pilot Point) secured second place by a neck. Kelli Martin trains Paint My Pilot, who had Yordanis Amaro aboard. Paint My Pilot was second by a nose in his Oklahoma Futurity trial heat.
Ivoryand Oak (Ivory James-Show Me The Oak), who out-nodded Paint My Pilot in the futurity tri- als, is owned by Charles Vanderford and trained by Michelle Hurdle. Regular rider Juan Garcia, Jr. was aboard the gelding.
The remaining order of finish was El Chanconkle (Sean Roy-Talk To Much), Famous
Big Daddy (Big Daddy Cartel-Famous Sandy), Call Me Queen Bee (Carters Cartel-Ity Bitty Rarity), Hashtag Fast (Desirio-Adorable Deer), Get There (Fantastic Corona Jr-Jess Racy Eyes) and Py Sea (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Shrewd Victory). Spit Curl Heat was scratched.
