Million Dollar Earner Noconi Passes Away
Noconi (Mr Jess Perry-My Dashing Lady, Dash For Cash) was laid to rest on March 2 after suffering from laminitis. The 11-year-old gelding had been in retirement at Johnny T. L. Jones’ J Bar 7 Ranch in Quanah, Texas. Bred by R. D. Hubbard and J. Jones Jr. Int. Ltd. and owned by R. D. Hubbard and J Bar 7 Ranch LLC, Noconi earned $1,348,900 winning 15 starts and
12 stakes races, including the All American Derby-G1, Zia Park Championship-G1, The Championship at Sunland Park-G1 and the All American Gold Cup-G1. Noconi is the only horse to win all four of those races.
His 12 stakes wins, all of which were graded events, are the most for any horse among AQHA’s top 40 all-time money earners. Noconi was named the 2008 Champion 3-Year-Old Gelding, the 2010 Champion Aged Gelding, and is an AQHA Supreme Race Horse.

The answer on page 149 shows Mighty Deck Three and his winning connections after his victory in the Northeast Kansas Quarter Horse Association Futurity at Eureka Downs on June 1, 1980. Mighty Deck Three was bred by Richard Jeffers and owned by Dan & Jolene Urschel. That same year, Mighty Deck Three (Mighty Deck-Miss None Such, Mr Bar None) earned the title
of Champion Two Year Old and Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding. He also set two New Track Records at Eureka Downs for 330 yards that year. Mighty Deck Three was foaled in 1978 and raced from 1980-1982, winning 10 races including the Rainbow Futurity, Northeast Kansas Quarter Horse Association Futurity, and the Flinthills Futurity. In all, he had a record of 10(3)-3(2)- 1 from 18 starts with $444,679 in lifetime earnings. This year’s $70,000 Mighty Deck Three Stakes was held at Remington Park on March 13 and was won by Win Rabbits Fly.
