 stakes winner Romanticist. Sassmaster’s second dam is stakes winner Brace It, who is out of stakes winner Brace, a half-sister to Champion Dashing Phoebe. This is the maternal family of Champions Heartswideopen and Special Phoebe, stakes winners Chargin Ace, Brace Your Glass, and many more.
Runner-up Thequeenhasgonenuts (Hadtobenuts-Queen Of The Castle) is owned by her breeder, Tony Doughtie. Cindi Keeton trains the filly, who had Francisco Ramirez Jr. in the saddle. Thequeenhasgonenuts scored a wire-to-wire win in her Sam Houston Futurity trial, and added $78,032 to her bankroll with this second-place effort. She is a half-sister to stakes winner Six Toast, among others.
Hiclass Buck (Hiclass La Jolla-First Taste) led through the early stages of the Sam Houston Futurity before crossing the wire third with J. Ramirez in the saddle for trainer Angel Sanchez. J.B. and Sherrie Morace own the gelding who was also a trial winner in his racetrack debut.
The top three were followed across the
wire by Diamond Version (Stoli-The Jubilee Diamond), Macho Maggie (Simply Macho- Royal Miss Della), Spartocus (Shazoom-First Dashin Bye), Valiant Uno (Valiant Hero- Dashing Uno), One Eyed Eagle (One Famous Eagle-Show Me Delight) and RC Had To Be My Day (Hadtobenuts-Make It My Day), who finished in a deadheat for eighth, and Absolute Miracle B (First N Kool-She A Miracle).
