MOTION 1 EXPLAINED

MOTION 1
The Management Council are proposing that the Captain, Lady Captain and President of the Club will serve
in their current positions again in 2021.

On the 24th September, you will vote YES to pass this motion or NO to defeat this motion.

OVERVIEW
As a result of Covid 19, 2020 has been a year with severe disruption. All major golfing events at the Club were
cancelled most notably Captain’s Prize, Lady Captain’s Prize, Presidents Prize, R&A Boys Home Internationals,

Ladies & Gents Interclub Events etc….

It is fair to state that the Captain, Lady Captain and President of the Club have not had a year that they would
have expected or liked to have had. As a result, this motion is brought forward to allow them serve in their
current capacity for one additional year.

WHAT DOES THE CONSTITUTION SAY?

7. THE PRESIDENT

7.1 The Club shall have a President, nominated by the outgoing President, and elected at a General Meeting of
the Joint Club. The President shall remain in office for one year. The nominee must be an Ordinary Member
who has served in the office of Captain of the Men's Club or the Ladies' Club. The office of President will be
held by a nominee of the Ladies’ Club once in every three years. The nominee selected by the Ladies Club shall
be nominated by the outgoing President.
