This unit of work is designed to be taught in Term 1 and a heavy emphasis on

'TOGETHERNESS' is important.

Also remember your new class is only 6 weeks older than when they were in the
previous year level. They will need a supported approach if they are to succeed.

Your Aboriginal children may not feel ready to (or be able to) read aloud. Be very
mindful of their emotions. SPEAK to your AET if you notice someone retreating

inside of themselves. This unit of work holds the Aboriginal children at it's heart.
They must engage. They must feel success (but not be shamed by it) They must

develop a sense of 'I can...' over the term. Then they will have a good year.
