OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
July 6, 2024
CITY HALL SUITE 400 117 W. DUVAL STREET JACKSONVILLE, FL 32202
Dear Friends and Members of the Southern Federation of Syrian Lebanese American Clubs,
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to Jacksonville for the Southern Federation of Syrian Lebanese American Clubs Convention. As the mayor of this vibrant city and someone of Lebanese descent, I am particularly honored to host an event that celebrates our rich heritage and the profound contributions of the Syrian and Lebanese American community to our nation.
Since its founding in 1931, the Southern Federation has played a crucial role
in preserving our cultural traditions and supporting educational, civic, and
charitable endeavors. Your commitment to fellowship and heritage enriches
not only your members but also the broader communities in which you live and serve. Jacksonville, with its diverse and dynamic population, is proud to be part of this tradition and one of the most diverse cities in America.
This convention is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the journey of our ancestors who emigrated from the Levant and to celebrate the enduring legacy they have left behind. It is a testament to the strength and resilience of our community, which has thrived through the challenges of the past and continues to contribute meaningfully to the fabric of America.
I hope you enjoy your time in Jacksonville and explore our city's cultural landmarks, beautiful riverfront, and vibrant neighborhoods. May this convention be filled with insightful discussions, joyous reunions, and a reaffirmation of the bonds that unite us.
Thank you for your dedication to preserving our shared heritage and for the positive impact you have on your communities. Welcome to Jacksonville!
Sincerely,
Donna Deegan Mayor
