Doppler signal in the IVC, and the spectral Doppler signal in the common iliac veins is continuous without respiratory variation. What is the likely clinical scenario to explain these findings?
3. You are performing an ultrasound of the IVC on a patient who has had an IVC filter and now presents with bilateral lower extremity edema. You note that the echogenic struts of the filter extend to the vena caval wall. The filter appears to be located above the level of the renal veins, and there is echo- genic material within and cephalad to the filter. Which of these findings are abnormal and why?
