The embryo will grow at a rate of 1 mm per day in the first trimester.
Embryonic heart rate is considered normal at 100-115 bpm between 5 and 6 menstrual weeks.
The heart rate increases to 140 bpm by 9 menstrual weeks.
From second trimester to term, the fetal heart rate ranges from 120 to 140 bpm.
Bradycardia is associated with a poor prognosis and is
often the first sonographic sign of an eminent
embryologic demise.
