Fetal limb buds are readily identified by 7 weeks. The fetal head at this time is proportionally larger
than the body.
Within the fetal head, a cystic structure may be noted.
¡ This most often represents the rhombencephalon, or hindbrain.
¡ The rhombencephalon will eventually develop into the fourth ventricle and several other essential brain structures.
