                                                                                 ž With the end of the first trimester, the fetal limbs are much more readily identifiable with sonography.
ž Inside the fetal head, the lateral ventricles may be noted, containing the echogenic choroid plexus.
ž The cerebral hemispheres can also be separated by the echogenic, linear falx cerebri, which lies within the midline of the brain.
ž Fetal movement, the stomach, urinary bladder, umbilical cord, and spine can also be noted by the end of the first trimester.
