                                                                                            ž The evaluation of the nuchal translucency has become a vital part of early first-trimester screening.
¡ This translucency is represented by a thin membrane along the posterior aspect of the fetal neck which can be measured sonograhically.
ž The most common abnormalities associated with increased fetal nuchal translucency are trisomy 21, trisomy 18, Turner syndrome, and congestive heart failure.
