The most common pelvic mass associated with pregnancy is the ovarian corpus luteum cyst.
The corpus luteum of pregnancy is a functional cyst that is maintained during the first trimester by hCG, which is produced by the developing placenta.
As a result, the corpus luteum secretes progesterone and thereby maintains the thickness of the endometrium.
