Typically, the corpus luteum measures between 2 to 3 cm and regresses near the end of the first trimester, although it may continue to grow as large as 10 cm.
The sonographic appearance of the corpus luteum is variable.
¡ It may appear as a simple cyst, as a complex cyst with hemorrhagic components, as a hypoechoic mass, or have a thick echogenic rim.
