A blighted ovum or anembryonic gestation is diagnosed when there is no evidence of a fetal pole or yolk sac within the gestational sac.
Along with being empty, the gestational sac often has an irregular border with a poor decidual reaction.
Patients present with vaginal bleeding, a low hCG, and reduction in pregnancy symptoms
