                                                                ž Occasionally, an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) may not be effective and prevent the implantation of the gestational sac within the uterine cavity.
ž If this occurs, the IUCD will be seen as an echogenic structure within the uterine cavity adjacent to the gestational sac.
ž The IUCD will often produce acoustic shadowing.
ž Its location to the gestational sac should be reported
