Revelation Classic
MAKIT SNAPPI
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Speedhorse
The Revelation Classic is written for Quarter Horses of three years and older who have never won a stakes race. For this edition, 12 horses were registered to compete for a purse of $436,400 pesos ($21,733 approx. U.S.) at a distance of 350 yards. Taliban Chicks was the only one of Mexican upbringing, representing the Quinta Marian Stable.
Four of the participants debuted at the Hipodromo de las Americas, but already had experience at tracks in the United States. Such was the case of the bay mare Makit Snappi, who had already accumulated $88,970 from 19 starts and ended up winning the Revelation Classic.
At the start of the race, Chicks Wagon and VH Ice “locked up” with Mea Dominator and Taliban Chicks, cutting them off in the race, also affecting Okay Marg Okay. With the others making their swift flight to the finish, it wasn’t long before Makit Snappi (#7) stood out under the guidance of Ángel Santillán, feeling the close pursuit of FDD Foose, which they beat by 1/2-length at the finish line with a time of :17.11 for a 95 speed index.
Makit Snappi was bred in the United States
by Bobby D. Cox and is the daughter of One Dashing Eagle and out of Duck Mea Running (by
Tour De Kas). She is owned by Rancho La Soledad de Álvarez, to whom she gave the second stakes win of the afternoon, and to the satisfaction of trainer Adán López Alejandre who received the trophies in the winners’ circle.
She added to her record a
fourth win from 20 out-
ings, with five seconds and a
third place; and her earnings
account was increased by
$218,200 pesos (approx. $10,876 U.S.). From her career in the United States, she took second place in the Valley Junction Futurity and was a finalist in the Remington Park Juvenile Stakes.
Second place went to FDD Foose (Foose- Yaya Girl, First Down Dash), ridden by Rosalino Alcudia for Cuadra 2 Marías and trainer Fermín Uriarte Salas. In his previ- ous start on Feb. 28, he placed third in the Inaugural Classic.
The sorrel filly Royally Significant (Good Reason SA-Significant Heart, Corona Cartel) finished in third place under Mario Alberto López Marmolejo for owner Cuadra Chilano
and trainer Liderme René Gómez Díaz.
The other participants con- cluded in the following order: Okay Marg Okay (Corona Cartel–Shazooms Doll),
Torts Cartel (Corona Cartel– Queen Of Torts), Executive Temptation (Tempting Dash– Executive Looks), Humble Lady (Deefirst–Royal Native Noblesse), Heza Fast Train
B (Freighttrain B–Fast Girl Friend), Chicks Wagon (Chicks Regard–Paint
Your Face), Taliban Chicks (Allens Cash–Miss Chicks Perry), Mea Dominator (Dominyun– Duck Mea Running) and VH Ice (Valiant Hero–Icy Valentine).
