Wyoming’s Grizzly Harvest In his announcement, FWS Director Ashe persisted with the delisting agenda messaging, by insisting that the decision to publish the new rule was based solely upon “the best available science,” a claim even he has previously questioned. In an email to his assistant, Gary Frazer, that was obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, Ashe wrote, “I maybe missing something, but this recommendation seems at odds with the ‘best available science’ standard of ESA,” after he was enlightened as to Grizzly Czar Servheen’s game plan to skirt legal challenges, and claim his crown as the man who recovered the grizzly. Alas, like the boy cried long ago, the king has no clothes. Servheen, FWS’s supposed Grizzly Bear Recovery Coordinator, has authorized the killing of 190 grizzlies and counting in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) since 1979, according to IGBC and IGBST data. Director Ashe’s Grizzly Bear Recovery Coordinator has condemned more grizzlies to death in his reign than were estimated to exist when the grizzly was first listed under the ESA. 15
