Proof of Eligibility:
Guidelines and Examples

This letter is requesting the applicant to pay back the SSI due to an overpayment; this is not an
acceptable as a valid letter to show proof of SSI eligibility. The letter MUST show payments being
made to the applicant.

Social Security will clearly state in the letter that it is a benefit.

The following letters cannot be used for SSI but can be used as proof of income.
