PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
ow! It has been two years already. My time as president is
coming to an end. I wish I could say I had a boring presidency.
WI remember Steve Black saying, “All I am doing is talking about
Boxwood Blight. I don’t even grow boxwood.” In retrospect he might have
had it easy.
In the beginning I had lots of talks with Vanessa about how COVID was
impacting everybody. What should we do if the State shut us down? Later,
it was, how could the MNLGA help businesses stay open and meet the
requirements of staying open? At this time, I am going to thank all the past
presidents and board members for setting aside money for a rainy day. It
allowed us to suspend membership dues and keep all our services to our
members. I know of other associations that had problems due to COVID.
LARRY HEMMING We were, also, fortunate that the State allowed us to remain open and
Eastern Shore Nurseries
working.
Things look like they are heading back to being more "normal". We had a
good Field Day. It was nice to talk to everyone face to face. Your president
had a hard time with Zoom. The nursery has very slow internet. A problem
when your nursery is out in the country and nobody wants to bring internet
to you because there is nobody out there.
I would like to thank Vanessa and all of the board members for all of their
help over the last two years. Thank You to all the past presidents I have
watched and learned from over the last 10+ years of being on the board. I
hope the next president and board can go back to something simpler and
easier to deal with. I wish everybody all the best in the future. A
