OBITUARY
June B. Auer
(May 17, 1921 – January 19, 2022)
June B. Auer, 100, of Crofton, Maryland, may not be familiar to many, but she epitomized the act of selfless
service and volunteerism. After retiring, she volunteered for 25 years in the kitchen of St. Martin’s Home,
administered by the Little Sisters of the Poor, and worked until the age of 91 for Visit Baltimore. She was a
fixture at MANTS every year, dutifully working at badge holder pick up in Pratt Street Registration.
Her son Michael said that MANTS was her favorite show, and she would tell Carville Akehurst, amongst
others, that she would work the show for nothing because she enjoyed it so much. Her last show was
January 2013. June always had a smile on her face, a twinkle in her eye and was “legendary” for her
cheerfulness and kindness. She was truly loved by everyone whose life she touched.
All June wanted for 100th birthday was to see an Orioles game and they surprised her with a special jersey all her own.
