“I’m a psychologist and independently licensed MFT in the
state of Ohio. I’m currently an AAMFT supervisor candidate about to hopefully start supervision with my second supervisee to get the full supervisor status. I started out as a mental health specialist for the Army prior to attending graduate school. I also completed my internship at the Dayton VA. I tend to do more couples than family therapy, and
I also have an interest in sexual health concerns. – HEATHER P.
“I am finishing my final semesters and will graduate with my MFT degree and a certificate for Counseling Military Families this year. I am a veteran
and my population of choice is the military. I volunteer with assisted living and memory care by facilitating a “life story” group using Cognitive Stimulation Therapy. I love working in geriatrics. I am a narrative therapist at heart, person centered by life (Rogers), and curious about EFT, RLT (Relational Life Therapy), and sandtray/play therapy. I am also a children’s picture book author.
– ANDREA H.
“I interned at a non-profit clinic where they eventually hired me before graduating. This work has been my dream. I work with a wide
range of populations, including a mixture of diagnoses, such as PTSD, bipolar, schizophrenia, and severe depression. Although I’m developing my lens of practice, my approach appears to be a blend of systems, Bowen, experiential, and some CBT. I hope to ... within a few years ... have my own practice with some incorporation of nutrition and wellness. I’m looking into certification for nutritional therapy, as well as personal training certification. I truly believe everything is connected. Next stop, taking the exam!
– JENNIFER W.
“I am a forensic psychologist, specializing in familial dysfunctions and a marriage and family therapist. I am a certified relationship specialist working with couples struggling with infidelity and other relationship issues. I am looking forward (hesitantly) to taking the MFT licensure exam now that I have finished my PhD. I look forward to connecting and working with my marriage and family therapy colleagues in the near future.
– TARRA B.
“I am a student with one
y
ear left to complete my masters
in MFT. I am a retired U.S. Army soldier, served 22 years and have been a Junior ROTC instructor for the past 13 years. I am excited to
go to my first AAMFT Conference this September. I am looking forward to meeting emerging professionals during the conference this year.

I recently graduated from an MFT program, during which I interned at two sites: a local private practice and a community clinic. At these placements, I worked with a wide range of clients, which helped me realize I wanted to emphasize holistic treatment. So, I am transitioning to a medical family therapy program to refine my thinking and work with the biopsychosocial-spiritual model.
