Troy: Pennsylvania Avenue near Race Street
Below: An incredible clean-up effort was necessary in every city that experienced ooding. An overturned shed in the side yard near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Race Street barely hints at the magnitude of the mess. Floodwater approached 8 feet along Pennsylvania Avenue in this area of Troy. The Hobart Manufacturing Company buildings were surely dealing with a daunting clean-up in their buildings across the street.
Right: The chimney stacks on the house are gone but the house looks very much as it did in 1913, minus the ood debris. Hobart, with buildings still located at Race and Pennsylvania, has been purchased by Illinois Tool Works Food Equipment Group. Two members of the Hobart family - Edward and William - have served on The Miami Conservancy District Board of Directors.
