During her late teen years, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri to pursue the fulfillment of her life-
long dream of becoming an educator. Her acceptance and attendance at Harris Teachers’ College was
short-lived though, as she had to return to work. You fought the good fight; you finished your race. I love you so much and I’m looking forward to
seeing you again in the glory of God.
At age 19 she received the baptism in the Holy Spirit under the ministry of the late Bishop Johann “Your Yo”
Columbus Williams, founder and pastor of the historic Williams Temple Church of God in Christ. A

Together, she and her husband James, lovingly parented their seven children (Lillian Marie, Justin, Heather, Takiyah, Taniyah, Jariah and Mya
Raphael, Mark Ivory, Erwin Lee, Christopher Gerard, Pamela Yvette and Jonathan). They were The Keys Family
committed to raise them in the fear of the Lord and the knowledge of God’s word. “Momma Dear” as
she is still known and sometimes called by her children, extended family and others, was always
praying, often fasting, studiously studying the Scriptures, seeking and striving to be the best child of Granny mommy, as I affectionately called you, you will be missed. From being the life of the party to
God, wife, and mother she could be. Her greatest desire for her children and others was that everyone teaching me what it meant to show others mercy. I always knew you would be there for me for a hug

In 1961, she and her husband joined the flourishing Christ’s Southern Mission Baptist Church Love, Rissi ❤️
under the late Rev. Herman Gore, Sr. There she began serving as a Sunday School teacher for the
entire children’s department. Later she assumed the role of assistant superintendent of the children’s Love you Grandma. Gone but never forgotten. Thank you for everything you poured into our family.
Sunday School. She also served as an assistant principle of the Vacation Bible School, a teacher of David
youth in the Baptist Training Union (BTU) and also in the Antioch Baptist District as an effective teacher
and trainer. Love you Grandma, I’m going to miss your smile and contagious joy. Goodbye for now, but not
forever.
Simultaneously, during the early to mid-sixties, she became fervently involved in neighborhood Love, Joseph
evangelism through the ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship, International (CEFI). Through the CEFI
ministry she witnessed hundreds of children– including all of her own children-- and many adults enter Love you Grandma.
a personal relationship with Christ. During the mid-sixties to early seventies, scores of young people Erica and Britne
came weekly to their homes on Friday nights for prayer and ministry. Dozens were saved, filled with
the Holy Spirit, received calls to ministry, international missions, business, education, medicine, etc.
