The Future is Bright in Minnesota
Minnesota. Why do I live here? This is a question many of us probably ask ourselves on a regular basis during the winter months. I know I do. As I sit here writing this it’s -11 Fahrenheit. The sun is barely shining, the wind is blowing snow all over the driveway I just finished clearing, and I can almost feel the cash being pulled out of my wallet every time the furnace kicks in. So why do I stay here? The answer is easy; spring, summer, and fall. This state has so much to offer during these three seasons; it’s hard to beat.
Seeing as you are reading this in the Barbecue News it probably isn’t a surprise some of the highlights of the year are all the BBQ events we have to look forward to throughout the season. Master series, Backyard series, judging classes, training classes, and the list goes on. Here is a small peek at some of the events we all have to look forward to in 2022 here in Minnesota.
Spring Training - April 2, 2022 Saint Paul, MN
The Minnesota Barbeque Society hosts this workshop. It is a one- day event at the Andrew Boss Laboratory for Meat Science on the St Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. The workshop will run from 8am to 4pm. Spring Training includes demonstra- tions, discussions, and a complete BBQ lunch. The class is in- tended for everyone from beginning Backyard cooks to accomplished competitive teams, butchers, general BBQ and meat lovers, as well as those just looking to learn more about the sci- ence and the sport of BBQ.
At this time a lot of the details and exact agenda are still being worked on. What is known is the date of the workshop; April 2, 2022. The Keynote Speaker will be Jess Pryles of Hardcore Carni- vore in Austin, TX. Jess Pryles will be offering her cookbook at a discounted rate at the event as well.
