2020 has been a year most barbe- cue folks will never forget. This year has brought utter chaos to many businesses while some are having their best year ever. Most of these struggles are coming from those in the restaurant and catering business divisions. Mike and Katie Massiglia of Messy Mike's Barbecue & Catering have certainly saw their ups and downs in 2020 but have found a profitable combination with their very first barbecue business.

Within the same year, both Mike and Katie became members of the National Barbe- cue & Grilling Association and the Northeast Barbecue Society. Both of these trailblazing organi- zations would open up the oppor- tunity for the pair to meet lifelong friends and mentors from the barbecue industry across the country!

by trade. He worked his way up
through the ranks in the restau-
rant world by going from a dishwasher, to finally finishing his journey as the restaurant's manager. Mike, aka "Messy Mike", had been grilling since his youth and he soon real- ized that there was more to barbecue than just hamburgers, hotdogs, and steaks.
Soon after tying the knot with his wife, Katie, in 2013, he got his first smoker. The couple took their wedding money and invested in their first smoker. Mike found his perfect

dream became a reality when in April of 2014, Messy Mike's Barbecue & Catering was founded. Armed with his awe- some smoker, his wife Katie, and plenty of meat, Mike has served 1000's of pounds of delicious barbecue since their start.
