The CookPerfect Thermometer is a relatively new and tech-savvy unit that we found super useful in our different tests with several different low and slow cookers. We also did a few tests using it during a few hot and fast appli- cations but found it to be almost burdensome with that process of grilling.
The unit comes complete with a circular shaped chrome main unit that will allow for two dif- ferent probes to be plugged in and operated at the same time. The probes are without question the most technologically ad- vanced that we have ever tested. These probes not only measure temperatures at five different points on the shaft but it will also measure ambient or grill temperature as well.
The CookPerferfect Thermome- ter app also uses an algorithm to help you determine how long it
will take for your product to reach it's desired internal tem- perature. Several settings can be selected for various meats that already have finished cooking temps prepro- grammed so you do not have to enter that information manually.
The unit works with a power- ful Bluetooth transmitter that will reach up to 100 yards (300 feet) without being able to see the unit as buildings and vehi- cles blocked the path of vision. The unit's app comes with a ton of features to make sure you will always know the exact temperature of your cooker and the product you are cook- ing.
Our tests were completed on our Uncle Pookie's Drum Smoker and also our Lang 60 Deluxe units. Our hot and fast tests were done while using the Weber Kettle grill, but be- cause we had to keep the
smartphone in our hand to see the temps, it proved to be more of a burden than useful for those few min- utes of cooking. The cables that connect the probes to the central unit are relatively short and know that one flaw is going to cause issues with some cookers.
In closing, we would highly recommend this smart thermometer to anyone who was looking to monitor their low and slow grill and proteins as they cook. You can find the CookPerfect Thermometer on Amazon for $99. This price seemed a bit expensive to us, but after seeing all of the features and technology the unit offers, we think it is worthy of that price.
