The Southern Girls BBQ Roadshow would like to start a new tradition of spotlighting a competition BBQ team each month. The last competition I attended was the “Smoking with Smithfield” Champi- onship in New Orleans, LA. The first team featured was one of the lucky 24 invited to participate. months later, she signed up for a KCBS judge’s class. She judged 70 contests over seven years before she decided to compete two years ago!
FIRST COMP?
Tiffany bought her first smoker in May of 2018 and competed for the first time at Smoke in the Grove in Spring Grove, PA in July 2018. She cooks out of the back of a rental truck! That contest was during the time Cowboy Charcoal was promoting the female pitmasters “Fire & Ice” series. She actually beat top female pitmasters in the region to win the golden ticket to the World Food Championships! In two sea- sons, she has cooked only 11
comps but has had six Top 10 category calls and earned a first place in pork with a 180!
MOST MEMORABLE WIN?
Her most memorable moment and fa- vorite trophy is from a team-driven cate- gory that the Mid-Atlantic Barbecue Association (MABA) does. The team Pig- gin Whiskey came up with the “Wild Child” award. Any team that wants to pay in $20 dues is eligible for blind draw of one of the four categories that is done at the 9:22 shot and whomever gets the 11th place in that category wins the pot and the trophy. “I’m true solo female Pitmas- ter (I prefer Pitmistress)! I actually had my logo before I had my first smoker. I was going for ‘sexy librarian/teacher’ look with the “meats” as the adoring students. I thought that would play well with the team name of me being ‘knowl- edgeable’...
and I happen to be a tall blonde with big boobs, so I rolled with it!”

HOW SHE GOT STARTED?
Tiffany grew up in Kansas City where she took BBQ for granted. When she moved to Maryland in 2010, a friend invited her over for BBQ. They brought in ribs that had been boiled or steamed. She told her friend that she couldn’t eat them – and admitted that she was probably rude in retrospect. He said that he had never met anyone as opinionated about BBQ as her and she should judge. She had never heard of “BBQ Pitmasters” and had no idea what he was talking about. Four
