should pay attention to the following and act as outlined;
Extreme care must be taken when working with hoarding, machinery or externally if winds speeds are over 23mph (force 5).
Avoid at all times working at height when these conditions present themselves. Do not use any MEWP with either single or dual occupants. Telehandling and material movements (inc via trailor) should be conducted at all times with the boom at it’s lowest level and at walking speed to avoid risk of overturn and only low loads securely anchored to the trailer.
Cease work immediately where risk of falling objects or collapse of temporary structures are present including partially built structures or unsupported gables. Clarification re the risk to the site will be provided by either the client (if s3k ground crews are present on a clients site / premises) or via the company (if a S3k managed event / project for the client)
Ensure all loose materials which may be blown and become a hazard are either removed or secured. Ped barrier and Heras temporary fence must at all times regardless of the weather have triangulated stability at equal intervals if positioned in vulnerable locations susceptible to weather impact such as wind. All relevant back supports must be installed and pinned in accordance with the suppliers guidelines.
If fallen power lines are discovered on site or exposed electrical connectors these should be immediately alerted to the site Health & Safety Manager responsible for the site
If working from scaffolding (inc mobile tower) check this is adequately secured and tied and provide additional ties or supports if necessary. External scaffolding or towers subjected to adverse weather should be inspected by a competent person before being brought back into use. If weather conditions deteriorate then crew must cease any working at height tasks and action other tasks only returning once approval is received from S3k crew leads.
Telehandlers should be placed in a safe place out of service and not to be used for any lifting above 1m during increased wind speeds.
Temporary hoarding with attached scrim should be removed if high winds are experienced to prevent flying debris / risk of crushing. All scrim required for event dressing should be applied as late as possible in the build stage and removed as priority following the event.
S3k crew to ensure the daily event weather / site briefing is read and followed, clarification re scheduled tasks with possible weather related risks must be raised directly with the Health & Safety Manager
If requested to do a particular task during adverse weather and high wind situations which has potential risk then S3k will notify the client directly and re-schedule as required. Crew are not to proceed unless a S3k manager has confirmed safe to do so.
Should crew discover any element of the site which is at risk during adverse weather conditions (inc high winds) then this must be reported to the Health & Safety Manager / production office immediately.
