Start Smart Programs

CHILDREN AGES 2 –9
Start Smart was developed by top motor skill development
specialists in the field of youth sports. Parent-child groups
perform motor skill tasks that gradually build confidence in
children while they are having fun at the same time.
Start Smart participants will develop proper motor skills without
the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt that will
allow them to enjoy and succeed in their youth sports future!

t The City of Leesburg currently offers the following start smart
programs. Each program is designed to give participants an
r opportunity to develop their sports skills in a fun and safe
o environment while working and spending quality one-on-one
time with their parent. All Start Smart programs feature age
p appropriate equipment and developmentally appropriate

Start Smart Football The Start Smart Sports Development Program is a proven

Start Smart Basketball

Start Smart Basketball teaches children the basic motor skills
necessary to play organized basketball. The program focuses
on teaching children skills in dribbling/ball handling,
passing/catching, shooting and running/ability.

Location: Leesburg Recreation Complex (Gym)
Registration: August-October
Day/Time: Wednesdays, 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $30 residents/$45 non-residents
Parent Meeting: October 16, 7:00pm
