Children from all over the Northeast, regardless of their seizure control, come to Camp
EAGR in Upstate New York to experience a camp complete with swimming, hiking,
canoeing, arts and crafts, nature, wall climbing and horseback riding – all of the things
children without epilepsy do on a regular basis. With its highly-trained staff, complete
with two nurse practitioners and neurologists, Camp EAGR provides the safe and fun
environment that children with epilepsy need. Camp EAGR enables youngsters to
experience things they might otherwise never have an opportunity to be exposed to,
allows the children to discover that others have similar experiences with their seizures
and also provides them with positive role models, as many of the volunteer counselors
have epilepsy.
