    Dates:  Between March 1 - October 1 the majority of the refuge is designated a wildlife
    sanctuary with restricted access.
    Time:  Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 4 pm, year round, Spring & Fall weekends 9 am - 5 pm

    information on the refuge and surrounding area.
    Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge, located in the rural towns of Alabama and Shelby
    mid-way between Rochester and Buffalo, NY has been described as one of the best
    kept secrets of Western New York. Teeming with wildlife and wild lands the refuge
    offers opportunities for the public to experience nature in all seasons.

    Beaver Meadow is a 324-acre nature preserve in North Java, NY. The preserve features
    its namesake beaver meadow with its associated ponds, glacial kettle ponds, wetlands
    with a boardwalk trail, wooded uplands, meadows, a hawk watch, an arboretum, and
    eight miles of marked and groomed trails.
