Give Power and Energy to Solutions
As I write this address, I have just finished my first full year as your OPTA President . It has a been a fantastic year and I have learned so much about the great members of OPTA, the legislative process, negotiation, and the passion of our staff . I have also appreciated the position and level of respect that OPTA has across the country!
“Better Together” has been a resounding theme that has
been embraced by APTA leadership and staff and it really is reflective in all that is happening on a national level. From my perspective at OPTA, I see so many examples of this from our commitment with our new professionals as we develop our New Professionals SIG, to our ongoing efforts to grow our PTA membership, to our collaboration with the legislators in Ohio, to partnering with our healthcare colleagues to find solutions for the opioid crisis . All of these ultimately help us to improve the health of society, the cornerstone of our APTA mission!
I’m really excited for the next year as we get our New Professionals SIG up and running and we complete our analysis of the membership survey . These will certainly inform our annual goals and strategic initiatives . I am also committed to road tripping around Ohio to meet with PTs, PTAs and students to talk about OPTA and membership . If you’d like me to come to your district, clinic or school, send me an email and we’ll set it up!
Thanks for your support this year . I truly believe that it’s a great time to be in physical therapy!
