The Vision Pulls You
Steve Jobs once said, “If you are working on something that
you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.” That describes exactly what it has felt like in OPTA! We worked really hard on passing House Bill 131 and the vision of better access and more opportunity pulled us all through, even when the going got tough! Having the ability
to diagnose within our scope of practice has the potential to open up opportunities for us with entities such as BWC and puts us on a level playing field with other health professionals like physicians and chiropractors who also have diagnosis recognized in their scope of practice . I hope you will plan to attend Advocacy Day this year where we will end the day with a celebration of this great milestone!!
There are so many great things happening at OPTA – the Early Professional SIG has started and is working hard on establishing policies, procedures and initiatives; we just held a PTA focus group in January and we’re excited for the enthusiasm and ideas that were shared in that group; we are exploring opportunities to partner with other healthcare entities to be part of the solution for the opioid crisis in Ohio and we are finalizing a leadership initiative to assist our PT, PTA and student members with developing vital leadership skills that are important
at work, within the association and the community . There’s
so much more happening and we’d love for all of you to be involved! Look for information very soon to register with
the new APTA Engage to search for both national and state opportunities . We are certainly #BetterTogether and I hope to see you at Advocacy Day, OPTA Annual Conference and other exciting events this spring! As always, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, comments or suggestions or if you just want to engage with OPTA!
