FIRST REUNION - 1951
Departure
ext morning the pensioners left for their respective
N homes and thus, The First Reunion of the Regiment of
Artillery, came to an end after two days of unforgettable
ceremonial events, festivities and revelry.
The veteran’s short stay at the Reunion had served to
emphasise the ties of friendship and brotherhood that unite the
veterans - who had devoted many years of exemplary service to
the regiment - with the young men of today who saw more
clearly than they could have done otherwise, that they cannot
have better examples of good soldiers than these veterans.
The RIA Centre South and The Mountain Artillery
Training Centre North were amalgamated and relocated at
Nasik in April 1948. The Reunion was thus conducted when
the Centre was at a nascent stage of raising. The Centre was
accommodated in Pre War Nissan huts of the erstwhile
transit area for British troops. The Veterans and serving
personnel attending would have undergone the travails of
Partition as well as baptism by fire of the J & K Operations of
1948.
