REGIMENT OF ARTILLERY-THROUGH THE REUNIONS
Lieutenant SK Mathur of Eastern Command, by
outpacing his rivals in both the sprints and equaling the
Services records in both the 100 meters and 200 meters scored a
double for the meet. It is not only the glamour that attaches
itself to the winner of sprints, that impressed, but also the
talent and potential that lies not latent, clearly within him.
Presentation of Athletics trophy
The races were run, the prizes distributed and the
“hurrahs” resounded; On the horizon, the sun was perched
precariously as the band trooped in their stove-pipe trousers and
scarlet tunics. It was a splendid performance as they stirred the
thrill spent audience with a series of rousing marches. The
buglers stepped forward and sounded a memorable retreat
which echoed in the distance with lingering nostalgia, the flag
coming down slowly, like a measure of time running out as
another day ended.
