RICHARDSON FIRE STATION NO. 4
The Richardson Fire Station No. 4 project, completed for the Richardson Fire District, included the new construction of a 14,090 square foot station located in Richardson, TX. The facility serves as the base for the Special Operations Team for the City and houses the station’s firefighters, as well as ambulance and heavy rescue vehicles. Construction of the fire station consisted of a piers and structural slab foundation, steel frame, and standing seam roof. The station also features traditional roof forms, brick details, and rough-cut stone combined with stained wood, exposed steel, and modern detailing to create a cohesive ascetic with the existing buildings. Other highlights include a long covered porch directing visitors to the entry lobby, stone-clad pylons with steel pipe struts supporting a large roof overhang highlighting the apparatus bays, natural daylighting, and polished concrete floors.
