    MCDONOGH 42 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The McDonogh 42 Elementary School project, built for the Louisiana Department of Recovery School District, included the demolition, restoration, and renovation of a three-story 73,672-square-foot elementary school campus in New Orleans, LA. The facility, originally damaged by Hurricane Katrina, houses over 500 primary grade students in over 20 classrooms, science laboratories, and art rooms. The elementary school campus was constructed using a monolithic slab-on-grade concrete foundation and steel structural frame with the original building’s concrete. The exterior restoration incorporated the existing brick and a SBS modified bitumen roofing system. This project achieved LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for optimized energy performance, indoor environmental quality, and sustainability and was awarded the ENR Award of Merit for Renovation and Restoration. Due to the restoration and preservation of historical and architectural elements, the McDonogh 42 Elementary School fully recovered from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
