 SUNSHINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The Sunshine Elementary School project, built for Orange County Public Schools, included the new construction of an 88,900-square-foot elementary school campus in Orlando, FL. This new multi-story prototype elementary school provides accommodations for 837 students. The construction consisted of a concrete foundation with a concrete tilt wall system, an exterior of concrete, single ply over lightweight insulating concrete roof, and a standing seam roof for the pre-engineered metal building. The facility includes classrooms, skills/resource laboratories, an art room, a music room, administration space, a kitchen, a dining/multi-purpose room, a media center, athletic facilities, play areas, bus access, water retention areas, and new air conditioning units. The new elementary school sits on five acres of land that was cleared, fenced, and seeded for a future three-story 50,000-square-foot administrative office building with parking. The Sunshine Elementary School project now offers a safe and modernized facility for student learning and engagement of the community.
