DON’T’S FOR DRIVERS OF BSVI VEHICLES
1. Never allow vehicle to run out of DEF, if level goes below threshold limit then check Engine lamp will
glow. In this condition immediately fill the DEF tank, if DEF quantity is zero, check Engine lamp starts
flashing and vehicle will go to de-rate mode.
2. Do not remove heat shield provided on exhaust pipe, this is required for proper dosing & preventing
Crystallization.
3. Do not keep DEF tank cap open or place any cloth instead of cap.
4. Do not apply paint on any DEF lines or After treatment system.
5. Avoid cranking of engine for more than 30 seconds. A gap of 2 minutes should be left between
successive attempts.
6. Do not keep the engine at full throttle during engine cranking. Keep the engine running idle till the oil
pressure builds up.
7. Do not idle the vehicle for stops over one minute. This will save fuel.
8. Do not switch off the engine immediately after stopping the vehicle.
9. Do not use clutch pedal as foot-rest while driving. This will cause premature clutch facing wear.
10. Do not keep clutch pedal half pressed while shifting gears. This will reduce synchronizing cone life as
well as clutch facing life.
11. Do not restrict the movements of the pedals. Do not put articles in the floor which could roll or/slide
underneath the pedals.
12. Do not coast vehicle (drive vehicle with engine switched off and in neutral gear), this is dangerous.
13. Do not remove thermostat, but get defective one replaced.
14. Do not overfill clutch fluid container, as it may spill with clutch usage.
15. Do not top up radiator by pouring cold coolant in hot engine. The cylinder head may crack.
16. Do not overfill engine oil in sump. This may cause engine smoking and high engine oil consumption.
17. Avoid mixing of different grade of lubricants during top up.
18. During running-in do not overload or over-speed. Avoid panic braking. Good running-in ensures long
life of vehicle and better fuel efficiency.
