Since 2008, both the province of Ontario and Windsor- 52
Essex have seen increases in reported leisure time 50
activity levels. Windsor-Essex saw an increase of 45.3 48
percent to 53.4 percent from 2008 through 2012, while 46
the province saw activity rates during leisure time rise 44
from 49.5 percent to 54 percent during this period. 42
Unfortunately for Windsor, a decline from 53.4 percent in 40
2012 to 48.9 percent in 2013 is concerning and it will be

Given the aging population across Canada, Ontario Windsor-Essex Health Unit Ontario Health Units
and our region, keeping aging adults active during their
leisure time is vitally important to maintaining their health 90
and longevity. Although there has been an upward trend 80
in activity in Windsor-Essex from 30.3 percent in 2008 to 70
44.1 percent in 2013, our region still lagged behind the 60
