These videos were widely circulated. At
many schools, colleges and public places these videos were shown to understand the scientific aspect of the phenomenon during the eclipse.
Radio: All India Radio and FM channels were effectively used to take the message of safe viewing of the eclipse. Two Community Radio programmes and four episodes of Janna Suddi in Kannada were prepared for the podcast.
Poster: A3 size poster was produced and displayed to create awareness about the ASE. It was pasted in schools, colleges, apartments, commercial places and important government and private offices.
Brochure: Five colourful digital brochures were prepared well before the ASE day and widely circulated through social media.
Social Media campaign was also taken up with the partnership of other organisations.
National Camp on Annular Solar Eclipse (ASE)
To view the Annular Solar Eclipse, a National Camp was organised on 25-26 December, 2019 at Jansons Institute of Technology, Coimbatore. About 250 participants from all States attended the camp to be a witness to the celestial event of 26 December 2020. On the day before the eclipse, a series of lectures/demonstrations were organised covering subjects like types of eclipses, their occurrence, how to observe them safely, etc. On 26 December 2019, all the participants were taken 30 km away from the venue towards Palakkad to view this rare event. Resource material in the form of booklets, DVDs, Solar filters, etc., was also given to each participant.
