An initial exploratory meeting was held on 22-23 April 2019 and meetings were held with various stakeholders.
The first nucleating meeting was held in Delhi on 13 June 2019, and subsequently, an extended core group meet was held at Chennai on 13 July 2019.
A two-day conference on “Science in Tamil: Science communication, popularisation and extension - the road ahead” was held at Chennai
on 3 and 4 August 2019. The conference was inaugurated by Dr M Annadurai, former project director Chandrayaan1. More than 40 science communicators spoke and gave their views, and about 200 participants took part. A press conference for the above programme was held at Chennai and received a wide response from both print and electronic media. An 8-page newsletter in Tamil was released during the event. As a follow-up, publication of books, outreach activities, training inputs, media sensitisation were proposed and executed.
