Project Kannada
A nucleating meeting was organised on 30 July 2019 at Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru and later a core group meeting was held at CFTRI Mysuru on 25 August 2019.
A two-day conference on “Science in Kannada: Science communication, popularisation and extension - the road ahead” was held at CFTRI on 20-21 September 2019. More than 40 science communicators spoke and gave their views, and about 150 participants took part. A press conference for the above programme was held at Mysuru and received a wide response from both print and electronic media, and an 8-page newsletter in Kannada was released during the event. As a follow-up, publication of books, outreach activities, training inputs, media sensitisation were proposed and executed.
Project Malayalam
Brainstorming session on “Science Communication, Popularisation and Extension in Malayalam - Road Ahead”
Vigyan Prasar in association with Swadeshi Science Movement, Kerala organised a brainstorming session on “Science communication, popularisation and extension in Malayalam” on 22 May 2019 at Kerala Agriculture University, Trissur. The conference was organised to look for the opportunities and challenges in science communication and popularisation in Malayalam.

A brainstorming session on “Science communication, popularisation and extension in Malayalam” on 22 May 2019 at Kerala Agriculture University
The conference also focussed on the scope of collaboration and participation for science communication in Malayalam language. Major contributors in brainstorming session were authors, writers, journalists and science communicators.
