Production of Mycophelonate Mofetil: Biocon India Limited has commenced the production
of Mycophelonate Mofetil through ‘PlaFractor’ technology. The PlaFractor is a unique fermentation facility invented by the company. In 2002-03, the company sought financial support from TDB for this revolutionary product. This solid-state fermenter is used in the production and extraction of microbial products.
Recombinant Vaccine for Hepatitis: Bharat Biotech launched its maiden product Revac-B (Recombinant Vaccine for Hepatitis-B) in October 1998. The technology was developed by the company at its in-house R&D unit. This project was provided financial support by the TDB in 1997-98. The vaccine was manufactured using Saccharomyces (yeast).
With TDB’s support, Bharat Biotech set
up a plant for production of Streptokinase, a specific activator for myocardial infarction and a life-saving drug, with a production capacity
of 2 million doses per annum. This project was supported by TDB in 1999-2000. It was launched as 'Indikinase' in October 2003 and was the first Indian company to manufacture Streptokinase through recombinant route.
Thereafter, Bharat Biotech was supported by TDB in 2007-08 for setting-up facility for development
and commercialization of Liquid Adsorbed Rabies Vaccine (LARV) through a unique process that uses continuous cell lines (Vero) as a substrate in place
of diploid cell and purified the LARV by HIMAX technology developed and patented by them. It also developed a combination of stabilizers which keep the vaccine stable in liquid form.
Indigenous Fiber LASER Cutting System:
Sahajanand Laser Technology developed an indigenous LASER cutting system with the Ytterbium Fiber and approached TDB in 2009-10 for financial support. This LASER shows 10 times more absorption for metal leading to faster cutting with small spot size that gives higher versatility
in options and applications. This remarkable technology not only saved foreign exchange but also narrowed down the gap in products and prices between foreign and domestic suppliers.
Indigenous RF Seekers: VEM Technologies Private Limited, Hyderabad, submitted a project to TDB to commercialize RF seekers in 2012-13. TDB provided financial support to the company
