simulate the operating conditions of thermal power plants either on the steam side or the fireside, as well as durability assessment.
SUCCESS STORIES
Heat Pipe Heat Sink (HPHS): ARCI has indigenously developed the HPHS technology
that can be used in the cooling of semiconductor devices, optic cable junction boxes, transformer oil, computer chips, and heat exchangers.
Exfoliated Graphite and its Value-added Products:
ARCI has developed a process to make exfoliated graphite, and its various value-added products, which find applications in various sectors.
Nano Titanium dioxide-based Textile Finishes for Self-cleaning and UV Protection Applications: Nano titania with high photocatalytic activity
and ability to impart superior self-cleaning, anti- bacterial, and UV protection functionality has been incorporated into textiles by ARCI.
IR Transparent Ceramic Components: ARCI has developed indigenous technology for manufacturing transparent ceramics for thermal imaging and application in harsh environments requiring transparency in different spectral ranges in
combination with superior mechanical properties. An innovative patented process of using a porous alumina substrate was employed for the first time at ARCI.
Eco-friendly Sanitary Napkin Incinerator (GreenDispo): Sanitary napkin incinerator, ‘GreenDispo’, developed by ARCI, in collaboration with an industry partner and CSIR - NEERI, incinerates used napkins in an environmentally friendly manner.
Laser Micro-welding: ARCI has developed
a laser micro-welding process for sensor assemblies, solenoid valves, hermetic sealing of electronic packaging, Lithium-ion batteries, and supercapacitors.
Silica Aerogels: Silica aerogels based flexible sheets have been developed by ARCI with outstanding properties and are useful for industrial thermal insulation.
Ultrafast Laser Machining: ARCI has developed ultrafast laser micromachining process for fabrication of micro-heaters, low temperature co- fired ceramic (LTCC) multilayer module boards, surface texturing piston rings and thrust bearing, and intricate grooving of polymer discs. •
Detonation Spray Coating (DSC) Technology: The commercialization of DSC Technology has been one of the prominent success stories of ARCI.
Nanosilver-based Textile Finishes
for Antibacterial Applications: Stable nano-silver suspensions were synthesized by a chemical route to be used in the textile industry to manufacture textiles with antibacterial properties. This technology also received two national awards, one from the Technology Development Board and another from Nano India.
Easy-to-Clean Coating Technology on Solar Panels: ARCI has developed a high performance transparent nanoparticle-based easy-to-clean coating
for solar panels that can minimize dust deposition and enables easy cleaning by the action of water.
The key features of this novel coating are its low cost, highly transparent nature, super-hydrophobic property, high weather stability and high mechanical
stability.
