5.11. Science Communication Popularization & its Extension (SCoPE) through AWSAR, & other DST Programs
Successfully completed AWSAR 3.0 with desired output as under:
a. Compendium on “AWSAR awarded popular science stories: By scientists for the people - 2019” was released by Secretary, DST.
Compendium covers 141 AWSAR awarded articles under both PhD and PDF category
b. Panel discussion on “Opportunities in Science Communication” was organized with experts from diverse field. Approx 2600 attended the
panel discussion.
c. Summary of AWSAR 3.0 (2020):
• Eight webinars organized on popular science writing with 5538 participants
• A total of 7520 researchers registered for AWSAR under both categories (Ph.D. & PDF). Registration under the Ph.D. category was
6492, and under the PDF category was 1028.
• 2063 (PhD-1828, PDF-235) stories were received and evaluated by 108 experts.
• A total of 128 AWSAR awards conferred and the AWSAR award felicitated on 28 Feb 2021 (National Science Day 2021).
d. Connect with young researchers for popular science writing
