Annexure # 5: Representation from Vigyan Prasar wrt its suggested closure
What is the issue?
Niti Aayog has recommended that Vigyan Prasar (VP) to be closed followed up by setting up of a cell at the DST HQ for carrying out the functions presently being performed by VP due to following reasons:
I. The objectives of the VP can be effectively met by a cell at DST Headquarter, which may result in rationalization of manpower and optimal use of financial resources.
II. The software and other technical requirements of the cell can be outsourced which may bring down recurring expenditure.
