        64 PIONEERING A NEW FUTURE
L-R: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, during his visit to the Life Science Laboratory of IASST on
31 December 2004
Dr Harsh Vardhan, Minister of Science and Technology, visits IASST, September 2016
European delegation during a visit to IASST on 3 April 2019

Electrochemical Sensing Platform for Detecting Carcinogenic & Mutagenic Compounds in Food: IASST has developed an electrochemical sensing platform for detecting carcinogenic and mutagenic compounds in food.
Microscopic Properties of Alloys/Layered Nanocomposites: IASST is also engaged in computational studies primarily in investigating the microscopic properties of bulk and layered systems with applications in the field of smart materials, green materials and structural materials. Heusler alloys in their bulk form are being studied to explore their shape, memory and magnetocaloric properties. Focus is to search for new materials with enhanced properties (Physical Review B 89 085114, 2014).
TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPED
A liquid antifungal biocontrol agent: A liquid antifungal product has been developed and
validated in commercial tea plantations in Namrup district, Udalguri district and Sonitpur district
of Assam. It is effective against Black Rot (causal agent, Corticium sp.); Red Rust (causal agent, Cephaleuros sp. in both stem and leaf)
and mealy bug which affect commercial tea plantations. Currently M/S Green Harvest (India)
Bio-tech Pvt. Ltd. has been producing this product under an MoU agreement with IASST.
Agarwood production: An in-vitro method
has been developed for production of fragrant agarwood compounds by treating agarwood callus with a fungus.
Surface coated bell metal products, using Plasma Technology: IASST has developed a plasma-coated technology which not only protects the bell metal from corrosion but also helps in protecting its luster for more than 10 years.
A herbal nutraceutical candy: A nutraceutical candy which primarily contains Garcinia Morella fruit extract in a dose suitable to be taken as a medicine
in cases of obesity and stomach disorders has been developed at IASST. A small production unit has been started at the incubation centre of IASST.
Production of an antioxidant rich beverage using black rice. A technique has been developed to produce antioxidant rich beverage resembling red wine (Patent Application No. 201931019623).
Herbal formulation for clinical trial of type-2 diabetics Using Premna herbacea, a herb used in Indian System of medicines, such as Ayurveda, Sowa-Rigpa, Unani and Siddha, an anti-diabetic standardized enriched fraction with marker compounds have been prepared and Phase-I
